Getting There
Cherry Capital Airport a prime northern Michigan airport, with regular service to Minneapolis, Chicago and Detroit. There is seasonal service from Cincinnati, Traverse City Atlanta and New York. Northwest Airlines, Northwest Airlink, American Eagle, United Express, and Delta are the carriers.

Mackinaw Island is Michigan’s top tourist attraction. Island attractions are the lack of automobiles, historic homes, shops and hotels. Getting around the Island is by foot, horse, carriage or bicycle. The beautiful Grand Hotel has a 660 foot porch overlooking Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. Mackinaw City is a major attraction in the area with shopping, dining and lodging. Both the island and the city have wonderful views of the beautiful 5-mile long Mackinaw Bridge-a suspension bridge connecting the Upper and Lower Peninsulas
Be sure to visit Victorian Petoskey, the childhood home of Ernest Hemingway. Lovely Victorian homes adorn the hills and hover over Lake Michigan. Take a stroll through the lovely town, visit the Perry Hotel, the oldest hotel in the region, golf, shop, or bicycle.
Bay Harbor, a beautiful harbor resort village on Lake Michigan boasting upscale shops, fine hotels, golf, a marina, and many seasonal activities.
Charlevoix the beautiful! A summer retreat for boaters who find safe harbor from Lake Michigan and Lake Charlevoix. Lovely shops, architecturally unique Mushroom Houses, a beautiful new marina and park, port of the Beaver Island Ferry, great dining and accommodations.
Take a carriage tour through an orchard in the heart of “The Cherry Capitol of the World” located in the Northwest Lower Peninsula boasts lovely historic homes, shopping, entertainment, dining and the annual Cherry Festival. Leelanau County is Traverse City’s upscale suburb with million-dollar lakefront homes and several trendy villages. Life centers on the villages of Suttons Bay, Lake Leelanau, Leland and Northport. Alpena on the opposite of the state is much the same as the Traverse City area similar in amenities; Alpena also has seven lighthouses and more than 100 shipwrecks in Thunder Bay. In these areas you will find unique restaurants beautiful beaches, shopping and bicycling. Highway M-22 leads to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore where you can drive through the forest to the top of the dunes overlooking Lake Michigan hundreds of feet below; or be on the thousands of kids and adults to climb and play on a towering sand dune.
Enjoy a day trip to an island, peninsula, or one of many lighthouses. End your day at a lakeside forest setting, The Interlochen Center for the Arts, and take in an open-air concert performed by some of the world’s most talented youth.
On the sunrise side of the northern Lower Peninsula watch the spectacular Lake Huron dawns. Also, almost everywhere you visit in Michigan, spectacular is golf! Yes, excellent golf with green fees that won’t cause sticker shock is available on Michigan’s Sunrise Side. Enjoy unspoiled country, canoe on the famous Au Sable River, take a walk thorough the majestic Hartwick Pines or get a glimpse of an elk herd. Cross country ski, snowmobile or try ice fishing on Michigan’s largest inland lake.
