Welcome to Saint Joseph's first Bed & Breakfast. I purchased this wonderful piece of property in October of 1986. Then, the renovation started in March of 1987, the Inn opened on Labor Day Weekend of 1987 and has been going strong ever since. South Cliff Inn Bed & Breakfast is ideally located on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. We have beautiful gardens and decks that overlook the Lake so that you can enjoy those breathtaking sunsets. Brick streets welcome visitors downtown to relax as they browse through unique shops and enjoy dining spots in this resort town. Shops display art, antiques, collectibles and lighthouse memorabilia in addition to clothing and giftware. The Krasl Art Center, featuring a Chihuly glass sculpture, hosts traveling exhibits, but may be best known for its Art Fair the second weekend of July. Below the bluff, Silver Beach stretches its sugar-sand beach 1600 feet along the lake and claims title as one of the best US beaches, as reported in Parents magazine. In July, the Venetian Festival sets up volleyball and competitions, a carnival and musical entertainment near the shore. In summer, free activities abound in town. Brownbag lunch concerts in July and August, horse-drawn rides can also be enjoyed surrounding the lunch hour. Saturday mornings from June through September, a Farmers? Market showcases the diverse fruits and vegetables this region (known as the Fruit Belt) is famous for. Sundays see Antiques on the Bluff from May until October and a motorized trolley runs the standard summer season, encircling the shopping district.
